To all the faithful in Christ to whom the present writings shall come, I, Henry, Duke of Bridgewater, through the express permission of our lord George III, by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, and the consent of the Parliament assembled in Westminster on the 21st day of January, in the second year of our reign, nominate and ordain the Honorable William Pitt as my true and lawful attorney and agent, granting him full power and authority in my name and on my behalf to perform all acts, matters, and things necessary in the business currently before the present parliament.
This document is an official letter, dated January 21, 1772, from Henry, Duke of Bridgewater, granting William Pitt the authority to act as his attorney and agent.
